Liz Merdian Lareau, M.A.
Liz’s 30-year career spans television and radio news, corporate public relations, crisis management, advertising and marketing PR, brand management, and digital marketing and public relations.
Liz is a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Journalism. She served as investigative reporter, anchor and producer at the NBC affiliate WICD-TV in Champaign, Illinois, and was the morning news personality for K-104 FM. In 1990, she became an anchor and reporter for CBS affiliate KCCI-TV, Des Moines.
After television, Liz became the spokesperson for Meredith Corporation’s broadcast group of TV affiliates and editor of the Meredith employee magazine. Upon relocating to the Quad Cities in 1993, Liz consulted and media trained executives for the PR crisis firm Wixted-Pope-Nora, and became PR director at Bawden & Associates Advertising Agency.
In 2001, Liz became the marketing and brand manager for Royal Neighbors of America. In 2005, Liz partnered with advertising executive Mike Bawden to form Bawden & Lareau Public Relations.
B&LPR currently handles media relations, digital and social marketing online campaigns as well traditional PR and public advocacy projects for clients both in the Quad Cities region and nationally.
In 2016, Liz earned an M.A. in Communication at Western Illinois University. She has presented scholarly papers on marketing-related topics at the National Communications Association and Central States Communications Association.
She is currently co-authoring a series of graphic novels to encourage young girls to consider STEM careers.
